Oil (vegetable or canola)
Baby bok choy (rip the leaves from the stems and set aside)
- Heat a few tablespoons of oil and/or water in a soup pot, and saute the bok choy stems until they start to get tender. Add the garlic and ginger and saute a moment longer.
- Add the water, a teaspoon of vegetable boullion, and a splash each of soy sauce and toasted sesame oil. Sesame oil is potent, so start with a few drops, taste, and go from there.
- Bring the broth to a boil, add the dumplings and bok choy greens, cover the soup, lower heat, and simmer until the dumplings are cooked. With the dumplings I used, it only took three minutes :)
(normally I'd add chopped green onions as a garnish but alas, today I was all out)
Stay tuned everyone, I'm going to add a comment to this post with recipe variations.
