1 1/2 c water
1/2 c roasted red peppers without skins or seeds OR pimiento pieces. (I used sauteed red peppers)
1/3c quick cooking rolled oats
1/2c raw cashews
1/4c nutritional yeast flakes
3 tbs lemon juice
2tbs kuzu, arrowroot, or cornstarch
1 tbsp sesame tahini
2sp onion powder
1 1/4 tsp slt
1/4 tsp each garlic powder, ground dill or coriander, dry mustard, paprika
pinch of cayenne
so toss everthing besides bread into a blender or food processor and mix it until its smooth. I added the cornstarch last because it is a thickener.
pour it into a sauce pan and stir it constantly as you bring it to a boil. reduce to low heat and cook until it is very thick and smooth. remove from heat and let it cool a bit and then when youre ready to make your grilled cheese, spread it on. its about the consistancy of velveta when its cooled off.
