Tasty for the Lazy

I've had these cans of little black beluga lentils sitting in the pantry for a while, unsure of what to do with them. Tonight, hunger overcame tiredness and (yet another) bastardized turn on Dal was born. I absolutely love dal =]

Pseudo Dal Of Laziness!
(I don't measure spices, or much of anything. Proportionally modify to your tastes =d )

1 Onion, chopped
3 cloves of garlic (mmmm), chopped
2 cans of black beluga lentils (Or any kind you like)
Garam Masala (Lots! Obsessed with this blend)
Cumin (less, a couple of shakes)
Ground cloves (much less, a shake)
Nutmeg (some as cloves)
Salt/Pepper to taste

In a medium sauce pan, saute the onions and garlic until translucent. Rinse the lentils and add to pan. Spice accordingly, but be don't get over enthusiastic with the garam masala, as it can become bitter (I'm talking in mass doses here). You'll want to simmer them down until the flavors meld, but still has liquid.
Serve over brown rice. Trader Joe's has this terrific brown rice, already cooked in the freezer section. It comes in a box with three perfect size packages and takes 3 minutes to zap- so much faster and easier, I hope they never get rid of it!
The beluga lentils seem to be creamier, and go really well with the brown rice. It's tasty, fast, and nutritious =d
