Okay, so I just started tutoring in the Natives program, and they gave me a recipe for that wonderful, delicious, tummy warming fry bread. If you don't know what it is, think of elephant ears that you get at the fair. Yum! Anyways, the recipe is vegan (though not very healthy...but damn is it good)and I thought it would be a nice thing to share this time of year. Enjoy!
4c flour 3tsp baking powder 1tsp salt 1.5c warm water
1)stir together dry ingredients 2)add water a little at a time. Knead until the dough doesn't stick to your hands 3)shape into balls and flatten the dough 4)melt shortening in a skillet and deep fry about 5 min on each side or until golden brown
