i had to look up the word for the german name steckruebe and the online dictionary came up with rutabaga...
75grams Beluga lentils
1 bay leaf
½ red onion
1 Tbs plus 1 Tbs olive oil
2 Tbs lemon juice
2 Tbs water
salt and pepper
2 tsp aniseeds
1 Tbs sugar
Bring 350ml water with bay leaf to a boil, cook lentils for about 15-20min.
Wash and dice carrots and leek, add to lentils for the last 2min. Drain and
rinse with cold water.
Finely dice red onion and mix 1 Tbs olive oil, 2 Tbs lemon juice, 2 Tbs
water, salt and pepper, add lentils and veggies and mix.
Cut rutabaga in half or quarters, peel (potatoe peeler works fine) and cut
in thin slices (i made them about bite size), cook for 2 min in boiling salt
water. drain and rinse.
Heat 1 Tbs olive oil in pan, fry the slices for a couple minutes, add
aniseeds and sugar and let it caramelize for a couple minutes, add salt and
pepper to taste and serve with lentil veggie mix.
