Sugar Cookies (roll out style)
1.5 cups AP Flour
.5 Cup white sugar
.25 t salt
.5 t baking soda
.25 cup oil
1 t vanilla
1 t orange flavoring (or any extract you've got on hand, almond, lemon, mint, its all good)
1 T apple sauce
1 fake egg (.5 T ener-g and 2 T water or soy milk)
Start off by mixing up that egg till frothy. Got that? Cool. Add the oil, sugar, and apple sauce. Get those all creamy and mixed. Toss in those wacky extracts. Goooood.
In anoter bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda. BAM! Cool.
Slowly add the dry jank to the wet jank, either using your handy dandy mixer or your handy dandy hand. Eventually it will become crumbly. Stop mixing it. Compress it together into a ball and wrap it up in some plastic wrrrrap. Chill that suckah for 15 minutes.
Ok, in the meantime, heat the oven to 350 (325 if you're going to roll them thin). Flour a surface and pull out your FUN cookie cutters. Now that the dough is chilled, roll it out onto this surface, however thick you like it. I like my sugar cookies thin and crunchy, so about 1/8-1/4 inch. Cookie cut this guy, place on parchment.
Bake for about 10 minutes - again, it kind of depends on how thick you rolled them. Just take them out when they start to brown and let them cool. Theyll crisp up a bit, you dont even really need to take them off the baking sheets.
Frost or gorge yourself.
Like I said, I like them crunchy, so a bit browned. If you're going to frost them and want them all soft and what not, just take them out when they barely barley brown.
