Any ideas on how to make this batch less hot so I am not left with eating the entire batch myself?

EDIT: Thanks again for everyone's advice. We had already added some coconut milk and definitely were eating nan bread and rice with the dal. I ended up using more coconut milk and adding potatoes to help remove some spice, which worked well.
(Next time I will save some spice aside for me so my boyfriend doesn't suffer.)
