hello everybody...
well my mom made me a banana cake for my birthday, and since i love coconut, she's going to spinkle some coconut meat on top of it. there's no way that it will stick to the cake w.out frosting, but we don't have a recipe for vegan frosting. if anyone has any input with recipes i could use, i would greatly appreciate it.

Do you like split pea soup? I do...

so i bought a 24oz bag of trader joe's yellow and green split peas and altered the recipe on the label to make it vegan. it turned out sooo good. here's my version:

1 1/2 large onions, chopped.
1 large carrot, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 32 oz. organic vegetable broth (I used 1 32 oz of broth and then 32oz of water, broth is spendy!)
2 cups of the dried split peas
1 tsp of rosemary
salt and pepper to taste


saute the onions, garlic and carrot until soft. add broth, water, rosemary and peas. bring to heavy boil. reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 2 hours. stir ever 15-20 minutes. remove lid for the last 1/2 hour and simmer until desired consistency. season to taste.

serve with a crunchy baguette. yuuuuummy
