does anybody have a recipe for vegan oreo cookies? i am using them to make cookies and cream ice cream, so if you have any other cookies that you think would be good instead, let me know.

also, does anybody here make their own tempeh? is it very difficult or different from storebought tempeh? do you know where i can get a starter?


Hey! I'm new to the community and just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Lisa, I'm 25 and I live in Wisconsin. I have been vegetarian for about 15 years, and vegan for 2. I'd like to say GREAT JOB to whoever made up the Recipe Index and FAQ section of this place, it is amazing! I haven't been this excited about vegan cooking in a long time! :)

Light coconut milk...?

Ok, I am just about to try a recipe which is meant to be the perfect vegan chocolate cake which was posted here a while ago and I have a problem.

It calls for light coconut milk, I was led to believe that this is the HARD BIT of the coconut milk when it seperates...
Is this right...?
Because I have just opened a seperated carton and it just seems to me like the hard bit if coconut butter stuff an the watery bit is, well water...

Also, do you think it would just be ok to use normal coconut milk...? Because the other cartons I got a few days ago haven't seperated at all yet... :(

EDIT: Oh, and this coconut milk's ingredients are: coconut extract 60%, water 40%
If that makes a difference.
