Chinese Tofu

For as long as I've been interested in vegan cooking, I've always wanted to know how exactly they make that delicious tofu you get a Chinese restaurants--you know, brown and crispy on the outside, white and chewy on the inside? That stuff rocks me to my core, and I've cooked with tofu plenty, but I still have no idea how to make it that particular way.

Any ideas?

can you deep fry tempeh?

i want to make almond boneless tofu, but i don't have any tofu. i did buy a package of tempeh recently, but i've never cooked tempeh before and i was wondering if its possible to deep fry it with batter? will it taste terrible? all i really want is the fried texture, since thats all i really used the tofu for. the taste tends to be in the rice and gravy.

Ethiopian veggie meal?

I was really impressed with the recent post with pics of an Ethiopian meal. Tonight I want to put together something like an Ethiopian meal. I have sweet potatoes, tomatoes, spinach, yellow beans, niter kebbeh and berbere (plus other normal kitchen things like garlic, onions, spices) any suggestions as to how I can make an Ethiopian meal out of those ingredients?

So I decided to go with the flow and make pita bread and hummus for tomorrow.

Mom and i were doing the lebanese bread.. 1st time we're trying it.. but since it's kind of late, we just decided to wing it and do it our way. Hoping it comes out good.
