Fruit flies--help!!

I've been house-sitting this week, and I neglected to empty my own garbage before I started. Now my apartment is filled to the rafters with a bumper crop of fruit flies.

Yes, I know that the key to dealing with fruit flies is not giving them anything to eat. But other than getting everything immaculately clean right now, what can I do to get rid of these awful things as quickly as possible?

hazelnut pecan frosting

I made pancakes this morning using a recipe from La Dolce Vegan

They were super yummy, but I wanted a sweet sauce for them besides maple syrup,

so i made hazelnut-pecan syrup/frosting/goo

How to:
In a bowl mix together powdered sugar and pecans
Then add silk hazelnut soycreamer.
For a frosting consistency, only add a little
For a syrup consistency, just add more until its more watery.

This was a real hit and my whole omni family loved it!! <3

making your own vegan milk chocolate

Is it possible to buy a good-quality vegan milk chocolate in larger quantities and at a lower price than buying individual Terra Nostra ricemilk bars? (I tried the soymilk chocolates from Vegan Essentials and wasn't impressed.) I'd like to be able to use it in recipes, but at the price it is now I can barely justify buying single bars here and there just to snack on.

Or, alternatively, can one make vegan milk chocolate at home? IIRC, the Terra Nostra people used powdered ricemilk in their bars. Has anyone experimented with combining a sweeter dark chocolate bar (around 60-65% cocoa solids) with powdered nondairy milk? Do you think it would work to melt a bag of dark chocolate chips and one of white chocolate chips and combine the two?
