agave roasted nuts?

Hi, i've never posted before, but i've been enjoying this community very much and it's a fabulous resource, you all are awesome.

I was wondering if anyone had ideas for a honey roasted nuts substitute? Could you use agave? And how exactly should one go about honey-substitute-roasting nuts, anyway?

If anyone can help me realize this dream, i'd be very appreciative.

Holiday Dinner

Alright, I believe that I have finally figured out what to make for x-mas dinner with my mom and brother. I figured I'd post stuff incase it could be helpful to anyone else who's having issues as to what to make...

~ Lentil Loaf (apparently this is really good, so I'll try it. bonus, it's easy to make)
~ Cornbread herb-sausage stuffing
~ Baked butternut squash
~ Green bean casserole
~ Mashed potatoes
~ Gravy
~ Bisquits
~ Baked sweet potatoes
~ Harvard beets (from a magic jar)
~ Cranberry sauce (from a whimsical can)
~ Apple cake
~ Chocolate chip and sugar cookies
~ Sugarplums

Gee whiz, there aren't many vegetables in this meal. Oh well...

Now I will cut-and-paste the lentil loaf, gravy, bisquit, and sugarplum recipes. Oh, and I can include my greenbean casserole recipe...

And I'll have some Tofurky slices on hand as it is very good to just have a warm slice with some stuffing or what have you. It's a lot easier to get the slices than do a roast and they're just as tasty, really.

Amazingly Good Vegan Eggnog

Amazingly Good Vegan Eggnog
Serves: about 6

  • 2 cups soymilk
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 7 fl oz soy vanilla pudding/custard
  • 1/2 cup sugar*
  • 1/4 cup rum**
  • 6 fl oz soy cream (i.e. Soya Creem, Soya Dream*** or Silk Creamer)
  • 6 fl oz soy milk
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/8 - 1/4 tsp allspice

  1. Combine soymilk, whole cloves, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a saucepan. Heat over a medium setting, stirring constantly - with a whisk if possible, until the mixture comes to a boil. This process should take over 5 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine and mix the vanilla pudding and the sugar. Pour the mixture into the saucepan. Cook again over medium heat, stirring constantly for 3 minutes, or until thick. Do not allow mixture to boil. Strain to remove cloves, and let cool for about an hour.
  3. Stir in rum, soy cream, soy milk, nutmeg, ground cloves and allspice. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours before serving.

Unsafe 'N Sound?

For anyone from Cambridge/has been to Veggie Planet in Cambridge: I'm making a pizza and I really had a strong craving for a unsafe 'n sound pizza from veggie planet. Most particularly, the spicy tofu croutons on it. Would anyone have had those more recently than two years ago and remember how to recreate them? I'm stranded in Ohio and just remember they are really, really good.

(I haven't posted in this community in awhile, but looking fabulous as usual.)
