no sugar chocolate cake.

My friend is having a birthday party this sunday for her son...she said that her son turns crazy when he has any sugar. She has a recipe for vegan chocolate cake that calls for 2 cups of sugar. Her son is able to handle stevia and brown rice syrup. Does anyone know if these substitutes would work in a chocolate cake and if so how would she substitute a liquid in for a sugar. OR does anyone have a chocolate cake recipe not including sugar at all(fruits??)

Making sausage links wth Tempeh

Im making vegan chorizo using this recipe for the seasonings, but I want to make links with it instead of crumbles. My only recipe for making links involves seitan-from-scratch, so I don't think the cooking time would work for tempeh.

Has anyone made sausage links using tempeh before? Once it's shaped into links with cheesecloth and string, how long should it rest? And what sort of cooking should be used for them?

mold weirdness in fridge.

i moved to a new place a few months ago and have been noticing that my fruit and veggies grow mold faster than at my old place, or any other time in the past. is there a reason for this? it's a new fridge, and the temperature is cold enough, and i keep the produce in the crisper. i pulled out the eggplant that i bought on friday and it was growing mold. before, it would be able to keep well over a week. there was also mold on the top of the bulbous part of the lemongrass that i bought about a week ago (normally, lemongrass lasts forever).

any ideas what's going on?

White Bean Dip with Pita Chips

This dish is great for entertaining on a budget. Looks way gourmet but wont kill your wallet. I put the original recipie and then my adjustments at the end. Hope you guys like it!

1 15 oz can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
2 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup plus 4 tablespoons olive oil
1/8 cup fresh parsley leaves
salt & pepper
6 pitas
dried oregano
