Hello all never posted here before but its morning and my belly is a rumbling,i wanted something to eat annnnnd have a wanting for scrambled eggs.
All i have is soya and egg replacer...now is it possible to make scambled out of that? Or can anyone suggest of what i could make that is nummy?
I know a lot of people say "this tastes just like the real thing" - but don't be desensitized to that statement - this REALLY does taste like Cheesecake. I've modified a recipe that I found until perfection.
I've made this pie four times within the past week, so here is my tried and true vegan cheesecake recipe! My friends are obsessed, and some of them are picky anti-vegan cooking people. So so good.
1 gram cracker pie crust (I bought mine, was easier)
2(8 ounce) containers of vegan cream cheese (I used Tofutti Cream Cheese every time I made this)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups confectioners' sugar
8 tablespoons of lemon juice
4 tablespoons of vegan sour cream (again, I used Tofutti Sour Cream)
1 (21 ounce) can cherry (or strawberry) pie filling
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)
2. In a blender, combine vegan cream cheese, lemon juice, confectioners' sugar. Dissolve cornstarch into sour cream and then add to the blender with the rest of the stuff above. Pour filling into crust.
3. Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees F. Reduce heat to 325 and cook for another 20 minutes OR UNTIL SET(add 5 more minutes if not set, make sure it doesn't spill out). Cool on wire rack and let sit for several hours. (Better if chilled overnight!)
4. Add cherry/strawberry filling to the top of the pie and serve!
I had a load of mint in the garden, so I've turned it into a chutney, along with some sultanas, sugar and vinegar (Nepalese recipe from the Oxfam vegetarian cookbook). It's got a kind of sweet, fresh minty flavour.
The problem: I don't have any idea what mint chutney would go well with... I rarely use any kind of chutney outside of spicy Indian ones with dal, etc, and this is quite an odd one... Any ideas?
So I bought some lovely Swiss Chard at the farmers market yesterday, but I am now unsure how to cook it. I usually just saute my greens with olive oil braggs and garlic, will them same thing work here?
if anyone has any other ideas, I would love to hear them! Maybe a soup?
At the international market yesterday, I got some cacao beans. I think they're dried, not toasted, since the bag suggests toasting them before grinding with cinnamon and sugar to make drinking chocolate. They're hard, with a thin shell that can be cracked/peeled off. Any suggestions as to what to do with them?
i want to make a stir fry of some sort that will end up on chow main noodles.
in it id like to put:
-fake chicken pieces (yves chicken tenders or whatever theyre called)
-a whole lot of garlic
for the sauce id like to use hoisin sauce, but im sure what else to add to it (the sauce, that is).
