Drunken Sailor Pasta with Olives, Capers, and Tomatos

So, willowbean and I cooked dinner last night and tonight for my family. Last night, I made fried rice and tonight, we made Drunken Sailor's Pasta with a light olive oil sauce, with capers, kalmata olives, and tomatoes.

It. was. fantastic.

My favorite thing about our free, but non-pirated cable is the Food Network, which I worship and is pretty much the only channel ever on our TV. Bean, J and I were watching America's Iron Chef Challenge last week and saw the episode with Rachel Ray (Goddess of Cheap, Fast, and Wonderful) and she and her chef partner made this pasta that she called Drunken Sailor's Pasta - pasta cooked in wine.

So, we thought we'd give it a shot. I LOVED it! Here's what we did:

Serves (approximately) 6-7 people, with leftovers

Pasta:
1 1/2 packages of linguine noodles, dry
2-2.25 L of CHEAP red wine

Sauce:
Few dashes of olive oil (no idea how much)
2 decent-sized stems of fresh basil, chopped
1 pint of cherry tomatoes, 1/2ed or 1/4ered
12 kalmata olives, chopped
2 tsp capers
3 cloves minced garlic (easily could be more)
Dash of lemon juice
