Chocolate Syrup recipe

i haven't actually made this myself, but i was so excited to find it online, that i thought i'd share. has anyone ever made their own chocolate syrup before? it seems so simple, i think i'd like to make my own and use some really high quality cocoa powder and make it really fancy.

Chocolate Syrup

½ cup cocoa powder
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
⅛ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon vanilla

Mix the cocoa and the water in a saucepan. Heat and stir to dissolve the cocoa. Add the sugar, and stir to dissolve. Boil for 3 minutes over medium heat. Add the salt and the vanilla. Let cool. Pour into a sterile glass jar, and store in the refrigerator. Keeps for several months. Yields two cups.

The result is very rich, so I only use a teaspoon for a glass of chocolate milk.

super easy super yummy snack

My raw vegan friend showed me this awesome snack this summer and I just thought I'd share it with you all!

Dried Medjool Dates (I don't know if the kind of date actually matters)
Raw Pecans (again, don't think it really matters if they're raw or not)

Peel some of the date.
Put a couple pecans on the piece of date.
Eat and enjoy!

It tastes like pecan pie to me. Yummmm

Also, I just tried carob chips for the first time the other day and let me say... most amazing chocolate-replacement EVER. I think I like it better than chocolate! I made my own trail mix with the carob chips, dried cranberries, peanuts, cashews, and almonds.
