BBQing tofu

I know there's some entries about BBQ foods but i have a more specific question for ppl with experience doing it.

I'm planning on making some BBQ tofu skewers (tofu pressed/marinated in BBQ sauce, onions peppers and mushrooms too) to put on the grill on sunday and wondering if people know from experience if tofu will hold up well directly on the grates or does it stick then fall apart? or should i put it on aluminum foil? Orrr will it not have that BBQ wood flavor if it's on the foil? any tips, like temperature to have the grill it, oiling the grate down first?
