Mexican Chocolate Snickerdoodles

I remember a post awhile back saying they were disappointed in some of the recipes from Vegan Cookies Invade your Cookie jar.

This was the first recipe I made from the book and they are FANTASTIC.

I did not have any cayenne pepper on hand, so I subbed half-and-half of cumin and chili powder.

I also used vanilla soy milk, and just used vanilla extract.

Chopping and storing Garlic

You know how you can buy those pre-chopped/minced jars of garlic? Well I've used those for years as I stink at mincing garlic when I need it, and I hate how it leaves a smell on my hands and cutting board and so on. Well I am wanting to mince up a whole bunch and fill my own jar (one I kept from the ones I've emptied) and wonder if this is ok.
I wonder how long it will keep. I know those jars last about forever it seems...I've had one for up to two months when I haven't been cooking a lot. Would my own chopped up garlic not last as long? Do I need to add anything to it? The ingredients on the jars just say garlic...

bread makers

Hello all : )

I am thinking about replacing my bread maker. It died a few years ago and I miss it. I mostly want a bread maker for pizza and calzone dough, though I do plan on baking in it sometimes. I really like this, partially because I love my rice cooker, but that seemes weird.  Rice cookers and bread machines don't have much in common.  Also, I have three kids and no counter space.  I think that machine may be too small, but I can't go much bigger.
