contaminated hydrolyzed vegetable protein (potentially far-reaching)

http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/default.htm

of note so-far is earth island/follow your heart. a smattering of their tofus, burgers, burritos and ranch dip (as well as trader joe's ranch dip) are affected.

i'd avoid recently purchased savory foods/seasonings with undefined flavors or that explicitly indicate HVP in the ingredients list.

Silken Tofu! Question!

Has anyone ever frozen silken tofu? I got two boxes of the Mori-Nu silken tofu in the free bin at my work and immediately threw them in the freezer to use at a later date. Today I got a jug of chocolate soy milk from the free bin and thought I would make smoothies with it and when I pulled the tofu out of the freezer to thaw it I saw that it said in big bold letters DO NOT FREEZE! . I know that freezing regular tofu just makes it chewy and I really don't care about the end consistency because I'm just going to blend it, but if anyone has tried this id like to know what they think.

Thanks!
