I'm looking for a tried-and-true reciepe for vegan plum sauce. I'm thinking of doing a stir-fry with a plum sauce for stir fry with tofu (my sister is allergic to peanuts otherwise I'd use that).
I'm not even sure where to start, but am willing to get whatever ingredients are necessary for this endevor. (Plus, I plan to make this for the girl I really like...read: looking to impress!).
Thanks in advance!

I was just thinking about like, puff pastries for example, traditionally require cold real deal butter and you can't even use margarine or it won't have the right effect on the dough because things like I Can't Believe It's Not Butter are too high in water content and don't have enough fat to hold the dough together.
So a vegan alternative to the needed high-fat content in butter for cooking purposes would be....? I've never tried Earth Balance since they don't sell it where I live so that stuff is also a mystery to me. Is it more like a spread, or is it hard and waxy like real butter?
