Authentic Australian Food - Vegan Style - Help Needed

Every year, we have a diversity pot luck at work. Each team chooses a country and makes a number of dishes representative of that country. It's usually a lot of fun and I normally have some idea what to make. As a Canadian with a large and varied group of immigrant/international friends and a penchant for traveling, I've grown up eating food from nearly everywhere. But I'm at a loss. I've never had authentic Australian cuisine. I've never even really thought about Australian cuisine.

Without being too stereotypical, I imagine that traditional Australian food is largely informed by the British isles along with other European influences, as well as more recent(ish) Asian and Middle Eastern influences. Plus, indigenous foods that I know nothing about. But beyond that, I'm clueless. And I'm open to most everything. Except turnip. I hate turnip.

Please help? I'm a bit desperate.

A flour question.

This is probably a dumb question, but I have the world's worst Google-fu, I've checked the tags and I still can't find the answer.

I'm Australian and a lot of my recipes call for whole wheat pastry flour and I have zero idea what that is. Can anybody explain it to me, or does anybody know of the Australian version?

Thank you!
