Toffee Apples!

Ok. So I've had success with cinder toffee this year already, which is ace. I would now like to master toffee apple and, if possible, treacle toffee. I want to have a filthy halloween/bonfire night full of baked potatoes and chilli, treacle toffee, cinder toffee and parkin!

I can manage everything apart from I've never tried to make toffee apples before. Any tried and tested recipes/techniques?

Also, he treacle toffee I made last year tasted fine but the consistency wasn't right, it was far too squidgy (possibly the water content in vegan margarine?)

Any tips on either of the above?
