We're going to be the only vegans at a good sized potluck party - me, my 6 yo daughter and my husband. This crowd has a fair number of very considerate folks that bring vegan stuff, so I want to reward this behavior by making something jaw-droppingly awesome. I usually bring a main dish and a dessert, I'm thinking vanilla mini cupcakes, buttercream icing and blueberries and raspberries on top for the sweet, but I'm not sure what to bring for a main dish. As I said, I want it to be super-awesome. Gluten-free is a bonus.
Has anyone cooked with curry herb (not leaves) before? I just got a lovely indoor herb garden made, and curry is one of the plants. I've never cooked with this herb before (and never really knew it existed), and I was wondering if anyone has good tips or recipes? Thanks!
This place by my house is selling crazy-cheap fresh shiitake and oysters mushrooms. I want to buy a ton and dry them for later use, but I've been reading a lot of conflicting information online.
Does anyone here have experience drying oyster and shiitake mushrooms? I don't have a dehydrator, obviously that would be the best method, but would I just be able to dry them in front of a fan? Will the lowest temperature in my oven still be too hot? Can I just hang them somewhere in my living room?
