I know the basic theme of this recipe shows up a lot, but I tinker, and I think I've made it ridiculosly good and the people I know agree. Enjoy!
2 cups macaroni
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup nutritional yeast
a few tablesppons vegan margarine (as creamy as you want it?)
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp soy sauce
As much hot sauce as you are comfortable with (I use a lot of really strong stuff)
salt and black pepper to taste
1 3/4 cup boiling water
cook macaroni according to directions, drain and rinse well, set aside.
make a roux by whisking together flour and 1/4 cup olive oil over medium/low heat. when the roux is thick, add 1 3/4 cups boiling water, spices, soy sauce, margarine, and nutritional yeast. Whish well, and when the mixture is thoroguhly mixed add remaining olive oil (or to desired consistency). Give it a taste, and add salt/pepper to taste.
Mix pasta, bread crumbs, and cheese sauce in a casserole dish and top with bread crumbs. Bake in over for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.
