Blendtec vs. Vitamix

The title says it all pretty much. I'm looking for a new blender- something which would better facilitate making smoothings, sorbets, and soups- particularly for raw foods.

They seem comperably priced, and both have sites which are fairly useless when trying to be objective. I'm looking at versatility (can it replace my current old-fashioned Osterizer?), I'm looking at longevity, I'm looking at ease of cleaning, and anything else I might not have thought of.

So- any thoughts on suggestions on these? Is there another which I should be considering as well?
