i miss these biscuits so damn much and was wondering if i could somehow recreate it using nutritional yeast instead of vegan cheese.
any ideas or suggestions or warnings?
2 1/2 cups bisquick baking mix
4 tablespoons cold butter (1/2 stick)
1 heaping cup grated cheddar cheese
3/4 cup cold milk
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
brush on top:
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
preheat oven to 400.
combine bisquick with cold butter in medium bowl using large fork. don't mix too thoroughly, there should be small chunks of butter in there, about pea sized. add cheese, milk, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic. mix by hand until combined but don't over mix.
drop approximately 1/4 cup portions of dough on ungreased cookie sheet using ice cream scoop. bake for 15-17 minutes or until tops begin to turn light brown.
when taking out of oven, melt 2 tablespoons butter in small bowl in microwave. stir in 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder and dried parsley flakes. use brush to spread this garlic butter over tops of biscuits. use all of butter.
it seems like everything else could be done, its just the cheese that's tripping me up!
i wanna try making clam chowder tomorrow and this would go perfect, if it works out.
EDIT: I MADE THESE WITH NUTRITIONAL YEAST (i doubled the recipe and used 1/4 cup of nutritional yeast like someone suggested) AND THEY TASTE JUST LIKE THEM!!!
