Garlic + herb kidney bean burgers with blueberry bbq sauce

Here is my obligatory grilling recipe for the long picnic weekend:

Here they are with loose-leaf lettuce from our garden:

And here they are topped with a blueberry barbecue sauce:


- 4 cups prepared kidney beans(drained)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small jalapeno, minced
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 1/2 cracker meal or other breadcrumb like stuff

*Blueberry barbecue sauce:
- 1 lrg can pureed tomatoes
- 2 cups blueberries
- 7 Tbsp red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp lime juice
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 10 mint leaves
- 1 small jalapeno, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Mash up the beans with a potato masher, mix in the remaining ingredients, form into patties and grill or saute until cooked through.
Add all ingredients to a sauce pan and simmer until reduced by 1/4. Put mixture in food processor and puree until smooth. Place sauce on bunned burger and eat.
