I've seen in the honey post, a few allusions to it being unhealthy, but I couldn't seem to dig up any factoids from the various links. But I understood that it was a reasonably good source of sugar, as sugars go- because it is dextrose (?) instead of glucose, it metabolizes more slowly, and it doesn't cause your body to undergo insulin shock or whatnot as well as giving a more sustained release of energy.
I also remember reading a book by some 1950s Vermont doctor who thought that the cure for every ailment out there was to take a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar morning and night (preventative) or more if you had an accute illness. *grin*
(Assuming for the moment the debate has been decided and/or the bees left it gift wrapped on the doorstep)Can someone illuminate the health issues surrounding honey?
