Got this on the SA Forums from a kid who worked there in '87 - I suggest we try it on some chicken seitan or something...
This the the KFC chicken recipe!
1/2 Cup Salt
1/4 Cup Black Pepper
1/4 Cup MSG (optional)
1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric
1/4 Teaspoon Ground Sage
3/4 Teaspoon Curry Powder
3/4 Teaspoon Onion Salt
3/4 Teaspoon Dry Mustard
1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves
4 Cups plain flour
Seive all the ingredients, making sure that there are no lumps. Keep in an airtight container. (This amount of seasoning will do several batches of chicken)
Place one cup of seasoning in a large plastic bag. This amount will coat 8 to 10 pieces of chicken.
Fully coat chicken pieces in an a mixture of one beaten egg and one cup of water.
Put the chicken pieces in the plastic bag of seasoning. Shake until evenly coated. Remove any excess.
Deep fry in vegetable oil until golden brown. (About 5-8 minutes)
Bake the chicken on a wire rack over a baking tray at 300 for an hour.
I don't exactly know how to translate the broken pieces of seitan I get as opposed to a whole "chicken". Any good suggestions (recipes or something commerically available)?
goddamn, 1/4 cup of MSG!?!?!
